im just wondering... do most people take summer courses to fulfill their GEs? because the classes are SO expensive. Why not take them at a CC? Also, are summer classes harder or easier than regular, 10 wk long, courses?

Most of the time, it’s to lighten the courseload for next year or to stay on track with the “four year” plan. And it’s mostly major classes they take which aren’t offered in CCs.

Some people have 12 month leases and some financial aid, so they decide to put that lease money to use.

Most of the time the summer courses are easier than the 10 week quarters (math and physics, anyhow).

im thinking of taking spanish over the summer, should i take it here or at a CC?

I actually heard some summer courses are harder (this is what someone at UCSD who has done the ucsd summer courses twice said) because its 10 weeks worth of work condensed in 3-4 weeks

languages would be something more difficult to learn in a fast-paced setting … for me, at least.

Summer classes are about the same if you assume 16 units in a regular quarter.
