Oh my gosh! The emo kids at my school thought it was cool to listen to some of the most awful bands ever. I was always just like, "Y'all do realize that they aren't signed for a reason, right?"

Yes, contrary to popular belief, just because a band isn't well known, it doesn't mean you are cool for listening to them and it doesn't automatically make them the proverbial ****.

Very true.

The great thing about ** good ** lesser known bands, though, is that you don't have to listen to 14 year old girls singing their songs loudly and off key down the halls. I hate that!

That's a silly statement. A band is good regardless of what they are defined as.

Anything that is good, is good, regardless of its label. That's kind of a "duh," if I ever saw one. But if a person you respected was considered crappy or insert some derogratory term by a large following, you probably wouldn't care, but it certainly wouldn't make you happy would it?

Emo music sucks ass.

Someone said emo music was synonymous with drug use. I shlook it from time to time but I don't have **** taste in music or wear stupid tight pants.

Edit: Has anyone heard the new My Chemical Romance cd, The Balck Parade? It's an over the top, shameless rip-off of Queen.

Grapeful - I don't really understand what you're saying. What I mean is, I don't think it should upset you if a band that you really like is emo or even just dresses emo. Bands should be judged by their music.

It just is confusing to me because so many of my friends say "oh that band is emo they suck" yet if I play one of their tracks off their CD that hasn't been released yet the same friends will love them and be like "oh who is that!"

I liked a few songs on their Three Cheers cd and I heard the new one was good :/ and I like your username

brand_182, I don't think you understand why I'm saying either. If it wasn't clear before, I specifically do not like the label emo because I do not like the traits associated with it, as discussed in this thread. Personally, I consider being called emo, somewhat of an insult. It's a negative adjective in my opinion.

I like bands and singers based on their songs, as I think everyone here does. That is why I don't care for it when a band I like is called emo. I have no problems with they way bands/singers dress, and it has no bearing on my taste of music, which I think is the case for most people as well.

That's clearer. I thought you were saying you liked bands but didn't like the fact that they were emo at the same time, whether in dress or actions or whatever.

Edit: And I love My Chem's new CD.

usna-
What those people don't realize is that they really like Queen, not MCR, they just don't know it because it's watered down. As strong as my music opinions are, I realize that it is a highly subjective thing. It's all chemicals and neurons interacting in my brain, nothing empirical.

I like some Third Eye Blind songs, even though I recognize the fact that they aren't a very good band.

Thanks, btw. I am pretentious Radiohead fan, hence the name.

I'm more of a paranoid android.
I have to admit I'm a sucker for how rock is more catchy.

do none of you guys have those anime kids at your school?
you know, the Furries, people who play magic all the time ?

Am I the only one on CC that suffers from this?

I used to play Magic back in 5th grade in Japan. Hahaha.

It intrigues me to see these American kids obsess over "anime" though.

I still have my Magic cards, so I plan to sell them for profit very soon. My rare cards will make me rich!

I hate anime...and most of the kids I know who actually like it are creepy as hell.

^finally someone else who has the same opinion of anime that I do!

Technically, "anime" is cartoon in Japan; it's short for animation because the Japanese love shortening names.

It's just that foreigners consider Japanese animation to be superior and obsess about it. And yes, I have noticed that those who love anime in high school are somewhat bizarre.

yeah, I know this one guy who is a Furry ... and you know what they do at those conventions.
throws up

I've never heard of Furries. Are they like emo gamers?

listening to the black parade

it does sound like queen, but still sounds ok

snoopyiscool, I'm so sorry to tell you about this but you have to find it out someday.
Some people are REALLY into anthropomorphic anime - usually fox or rabbits.
So they dress up in fox and rabbit suits and act out parts from comics. A few even have furry sex - sex with those suits on. Yea...I really hate the anime kids.
