Why the Princeton CC site generates so much interest (25,000+ posts-to-date).

As a newcomer here I assumed the reason why the Princeton CC site attracted so many posts was that the school had been consistently ranked at the top of all the recognized, national undergraduate rankings. However, yesterday, I asked I asked CCers at the Princeton site, why the school attracted so much interest. The answer was refreshing and quite different than what I had expected. Hopefully, while searching for schools, CCers will find this same element elsewhere. It may be a telltale sign. It also may explain why Princeton alumni donate at the highest rate in the country (see US News). Heres is the thread:

WOW THAT THREAD BLEW MY MIND, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING A LINK TO IT!!!

if I cared why people loved Princeton, I could've found that myself... is there really a need to reference it here? (it's not even that interesting a thread)

Then just don't read it. CC doesn't exist for you alone.

On Students Review Pensacola Christian College Pensacola, FL has the most reviews. What does that mean? Not much.

'Then just don't read it. CC doesn't exist for you alone.'

well, CC doesn't exist for princeton lovers either. if you don't like ay_caramba's comment, then don't read it.

We get the point, you like Princeton. Go there, be happy, and tell all the Harvard kids how wonderful it is.

yeah seriously. i think if he wasn't CONSTANTLY doing stuff like this about princeton it wouldn't bother me as much.

What's interesting, for those interested in the IVY league, is that the comments in the Princeton thread closely resmble those in the Prowl'r College Guide. A sample from the guide follows:

"Students speak out on
Overall Experience"

"It is impossible to love every second at Princeton, because the work is simply too demanding. In the midst of all of the work, however, you will make some of the strongest bonds of your life, whether it is with professors, graduate students, administrators, support staff, or your fellow students. The Princeton bond is not limited to just that population either. Alumni are more than willing to share their wealth of knowledge and experience with students so that they can get the best opportunities in the workplace. A friend of mine networked during his sophomore year and got an offer for a paid internship at one of the country’s top investment banks before his junior year, a year earlier than the official recruitment process even begins!"

"It has been, by far, the best time of my life, both socially and intellectually. I really wish I could stay here forever."

Funny, that is so similar to Dartmouth also.

lol okay. :p

There is a Student College Guide Book (which because they are a CC competitor, I can not directly name here, although it begins with a "P" and ends with an "r") that is full of student opinions about each and every school. The colleges are also ranked by the students.
