Lol I don’t know how to answer that.

This is the dumbest post ever, haha. People aren’t gonna stop posting about APs just cause you posted this. What, you want us to take no APs? Reality is, whoever does that will probably fail and go to community college and have an unhappy life.

yoyoyo we’re all entitled to our own opinions

Okay, I’ll follow your advice and end up with a 3.5 GPA.

Woah, that was getting pretty tense there for a second. I’m almost afraid to put my two cents in.

1) I think AP posts aren’t doing any harm. As stated (numerous times) above, AP classes are undoubtedly one of the most important elements of college application/admission. I feel obligated to take AP classes, the gods forbid I fall below rank three in my class. But I also like them, because lets face it: the regular classes are mind-blowingly easy peasy.

2) Not to say that extracurriculars are unimportant; without a few, I agree that you have an almost flatline chance of getting into a good college (with the exception of those mega-genii that test into the top .001% of America).

So um…yeah. Balance between AP and extracirriculars, but have some of both. Two is better than one, and all that.

Did we forget the dreaded AP tests in which most student tends to get less than a 3…

The problem with AP threads an CC is that there are a zillion of them that are posted every day that are all asking the same questions/bragging about the same things. HSL is supposed to be a cafe about high school LIFE and there is a little bit more to life than AP classes/tests. Its okay to have a couple of threads about it but before they post people need to just check and make sure there aren’t twelve other threads on the same topic on the first page of threads.

Actually those who take a lot of AP classes, those are their life. They just need to relax.

Well they’re obviously doing it wrong. I’m taking 7 AP classes as a senior while still playing sports and being involved in other ECs. I take care of the work and I move on. Really what is there to ask questions about? Sign up for the classes or don’t. Strangers really aren’t going to be the best people to ask about scheduling difficulties because they aren’t familiar with your school or the time/work requirement involved with the AP class that CCers are considering.

OP can’t keep up with a rigorous class schedule and also participate in ECs so she writes this thread to make herself feel better.

It all depends on whether OP is cute or not. So OP, are you cute?

Well, that was unmerited. First off, I do take two APs as well as an extra literature class at my city’s university (yes, university). I have my share of extra-curriculars and am also on NHS. However, I don’t feel obliged to share about it every two seconds. I’m irritated at oblivion most people on this site seem to be in. If you think I can’t handle it, you’re wrong. I’m just aware of what else should be taken into consideration.

I think people are going off track in this thread, but here’s my two cents. I know how some of you guys feel. People go on here all the time bragging and say:
“I’m taking 7 APs and I’m in Track, swimming, dancing, helping the homeless, pick up trash, read to dogs, volunteer at a hospital, NSH, have a NCI internship, and I’m planning to self-study 4 more APs. Chance me.” I think people should stop posting these things when they already know the answer. AP threads are fine, but to the point where it’s making other people feel worthless and inferior is really inappropriate. I admit. I feel inferior to some of these people on here, and people saying community colleges is his/her future is community college. Yeah I agree that APs do save money for college and they’re good on college applications. APs are now becoming the new “thing”. People’s conversations are beginning with: “How many APs are you taking?” Some people are just really intelligent and take APs because Honor courses are boring and too slow. I will never take 5-7 APs in my high school life because I could never handle it. Some people on here are lying or telling the truth. Anyone can hide behind a computer and type anything.

Admittedly, I always feel like trolling on those types of threads.

kid lists 3-page resume
“Do I have a cha-”

Me: “No. You have no chance.”

“Will I die if I take 20 AP classes?”
Me: “Yes.” (This is probably true)

If everybody took this approach and started trolling, I’d bet there’d be less posts on AP’s.

Let the trolling begin!

But seriously, catch is right. Just don’t take those threads seriously. Or you can direct them to the threads that are devoted to that or tell them to use the lovely google search function.
