"Why this college/major?" help for an undecided applicant

I'm applying for undecided engineering at Carnegie Mellon and Northwestern, and I'm having some difficulty with their supplements. I think I know I want to study engineering, because I love science, I'm really good at math and I want to do something hands-on but I'm not sure which kind. I either want do work in the space industry or the sustainability/environmental sector. Also, I prefer Chemistry, Biology over Physics+Mechanics.

So I'm not entirely sure how to go about this. In my supps, I've written about my interest in space exploration/travel (my ECs demonstrate this too), but I also want to write something about planet Earth and the environment to show why I was undecided in my application. Should I just write about my general interest in both fields? Or should I mention the specific engineering majors that I'm interested and then write in detail about those? Or should just talk about space? I'm really confused about this. Anyone have any advise?
