Why transfer to a US college?

To all of you international students who have transferred or plan to transfer to a US college: why did you make that decision?

When I think of such transfers, I think of students who have already completed 2 out of 3 years of their undergraduate degree in their home country (which might be only true in Europe, idk) and have only taken courses in their major so far. They will probably only get two years' worth of transfer credit, so they need another 2 years to finish their degree, of which they would spend a lot of time catching up on general education requirements that American students take in their first two years: English, history, math, sciences, fine arts etc. Depending on the college, those gen ed requirements might occupy so much time that students will only be able to take few more courses in their actual major.

In my mind, transfer students have to pay higher tuition fees then they would in their home country (and there's not even financial aid!), get a worse subject-specific education and have to spend an additional year in college. So much to the disadvantages. What are the advantages of a transfer, and how do they overcome all the inconveniences?

Please excuse my ignorance :)

why internationals transfer:
1. international that applied to us schools and rejected by top choices so he goes to the safety which is another school. then he might apply transfer again if his gpa is good enough to give him confidence. That is, transfering from a us school to another. I believe majority of internationals looking transfers in this forum is this case.
2. your local school really make you disappointed... Like my own case, I am in Ecuador and college here really boring class is slow and without competition, it is too easy, so there must be someone that don't confort with it even its degree might give a locally decent job afterwards... there is always people on third world countries that want more challenge and maybe locally he can get some financial help with could be pretty sweet...

qihqi is right. For example, the transfer admit rate for some schools is greater than the freshman admit rate for international students( though by less than 10 percentage points). One can't help but fancy ones chances- 2 essays won't take away too much sleep, or?

i think the transfer admit rate for intels will be higher than the freshman rate only if one is NOT applying for aid.. but if one needs aid.. then good luck
