Why Trinity?

why is it mostly texans? i'm guessing outside of obvious reasons, that i don't really think trinity is that well known throughout the nations, so most people who will find it/hear about it/have it suggested to them are going to be from texas

from what i saw i'd guess ~70% texans sounds about right. and as someone said that doesn't mean its not diverse. its definitely mostly white, but you can't really stereotype a texan. most people have the image of some cowboy hick who has a thick accent but thats just not true. texas has a VERY wide range of people with a wide range of values, and conconsidering your going to be arround college kids, its fair to say you'll be arround people with diverse political backgrounds as well. I really don't think trinity has a have "diversity" problem, but it is definitely lacking in ethnic diversity and probably (i'm guessing here) religious diversity as well.

froshtobe: where else have you applied? I've got a list started for my D, and she's working on her own list, so we're always interested in learning about new schools from seniors who are applying to colleges which interest us. Especially if you have similar interests or values.

Investorscooter, where I have applied really doesn't reflect my values because that is the fine tuning, in the end thing. I mean you start with what schools have good programs in the area that you think you are interested in, which is what I did and then I tried to do a cross section of so-called "reach" schools in my interest with then some mixing of others that had what I wanted and were probable acceptances. I don't much like the term safety schools as that is generally used but sounds like they aren't as good and good can be good for all kinds of reasons. I had to be a little less specific because I didn't want straight liberal arts and that cut off some I would have liked to apply to especially for the types of students. I really like the Fiske guide to colleges because it gave me a better idea of what the school is like in students opinions and as I have been told more accurate assessment of the "real" school.

Decisions for Trinity go out as of today or tomorrow for RD I think.

Good luck froshtobe. My son's best friend is a senior (who was deferred ED), so March is complete a-g-o-n-y. It shouldn't be like this...I'm sure you'll get good news.

Thanks, I think I will know very soon. I am pretty sure that I will be accepted but then just waiting on any aid package and not getting totally hopeful ofcourse. AGONY sums up this waiting time pretty accurately I think for all the schools. By the way, I am not sure what your D wants to study exactly but Furman is also said to have nice students and professors who relate well. There has been discussion about it religiousness but from what I have heard that is overrated by people. I have been in contact with one of their student ambassadors - E-mailing and she has positive things to say and seemed more honest than cheerleady.

Congrats to everyone who's been accepted and good luck to those still waiting!!

(I'm trying to get my friend to consider transferring here, but she doesn't know it yet!)

So you are a student at Trinity- raindrop1019?

yeah hi...

i've gotten into trinity with a $12,000 per year scholarship...

i'm wondering.. is trinity well recognized by the ivy leagues...?

i really want to apply because of the comfort levels + student to teacher ratio (10:1 - wow)... but i'm a little apprehensive coz i dont know if trinity is well recognized...

i mean, what will my credibitlity be as a student of trinity...?

i plan on doing under grad there, and want to go to an ivy for post grad...

thats why i ask...

thanks

Angel of Death,

I do not know about the Ivy League schools, but I am a graduate of GWU and I knew of them. I am actually going to attend them this fall for their hospital administration masters program (it is in the top 20 in the nation according to US News and World). I was also accepted to Cornell’s program but declined due to its lower standing.

As for the student planning on attending GWU… I wish you the best of luck!

Hi! I found out today that I was accepted-- 8 minutes ago, actually. They emailed my acceptance letter. I just need to wait for financial aid, but I'm really excited!

Me too, got my formal acceptance too a few minutes ago. Yep waiting for the financial aid package too.

froshtobe, I'm not a student, but I'm a big fan of the school. I started an application to Trinity, but I withdrew it after being accepted ED somewhere else. Btw, Congrats!!

Well thanks raindrop, and best of luck to you in your freshman year. What was it that attracted you about Trinity?
