For this thread, for those of you decided to enroll here this fall (after acceptance), what are the top reasons and motivation behind choosing University of Chicago as your college!!!!

As Jonathan Cole, the provost and dean of faculty at Columbia, pointed out in his book “The Great American University”, UChicago is the epitome of what’s great about American universities, mainly, academic freedom.

[U of C is the Great American University, author says ? The Chicago Maroon](<a href=“Rambling and flat, this family turmoil doesn’t amount to a handful of cherries – Chicago Maroon”>Rambling and flat, this family turmoil doesn’t amount to a handful of cherries – Chicago Maroon)

I’m interested in Humanities and UChicago is one of the best in that area so that’s a plus.

I also knew that I wanted to study in a place that is rich in culture and has market large enough for my various career interests/goals should I decide to stay after graduation. The city of Chicago was a solid choice.

I was uncertain about starting graduate school and I had a lot of questions. I communicated with Graham School staff for three years before finally deciding to apply in 2012. Their quality communication and patience is ultimately what sold me.
