Tjdabeast is right.

Milestone is right as well. This kind of stuff is all the frat/sorority culture at UCSB. Which is 9% of the student population I think. The rest of the 90% are just good looking nerds.

Bro Bible? really?

Bro Bible? really? "

If you think that those are only frats/sororities participating in stuff like this then your completely wrong. I know people that go to UCSB that aren’t in any, and live for this sort of stuff. And 90% rest of the population aren’t “nerds”. What are you talking about this isn’t Cal Tech.

Mr. Ckl22. . . .

how would you know all this stuff? Especially when you live in Connecticut? (o.O) :-o!!!

btw, i notice you’re a writer for your school paper.

are you going to pursue journalism in SB as well?

Lemon: I said that I KNOW people that go to UCSB. I go to a boarding school, and know people from CA who have had many brothers/sisters attend UCSB so I actually know a decent amount.

And I may pursue journalism. I’m leaning towards majoring in Aquatic Bio. though haha we’ll see.

oh. lol.

i see.

yea. . . .i can’t say too much either. Had 3 or 4 friends go to SB for class of '13, but haven’t really touched base with them ever since they graduated last year. . . .

yea. just wonderin-i might pursue journalism too. (Then again, maybe for the ffing helluvit, i might try business too.)

haha yea. If you do end up going to SB, I’ll probably see ya there-I’m seriously considering this school.

***no moar videos! You’re scaring off dozens of parents.

ya the 90% nerds statement was exaggerated…just like your IVTV is overblown.

It is IVTV not UCSBTV. If you lived in IV, you would know IV has SBCC students, UCSB students, UCSB drop-outs, families with children. You are an out of state student talking about UCSB, while I am an Alum and most of my friends are from UCSB.

I know boat loads of undergrads and grads from UCSB and most of them are nerds. The school gets on Avg. the top 6%-7% of the California high school grads. I would say that is a pretty smart bunch.

Yes it is not Cal Tech because Cal Tech has 900 or so undergrads. If you take 900 of the top UCSB undergrads they will be as good as Cal Tech students.

The college of creative studies has 350 students, and those 350 are as smart as IVY league schools’ kids.

Don’t defame the school’s reputation by posting sexist links that don’t do justice to your intelligence and the school’s student population. Most of the kids who go to the university are smart and they worked their asses off to get to where they are, I bet for many the link that you posted is offensive to them.

If I was a freshmen and I worked my ass off to get into UCSB, and my parents saw your link, they would be worried about me going to UCSB. So I hope you realize what you are doing.

I said IVTV, not UCSBTV…

Also I never said anything about the schools rep. being poor…all I stated was that it’s not 90% nerds. I’m from OOS and worked my ass of as well, and will prob. be attending UCSB.

These links were intended to show all the fun that is to be had at UCSB. If you don’t like them that’s your opinion, but for those who enjoy partying and all that other stuff (like many other college kids) then maybe these links can be of some help to those who haven’t really seen what a night or day is like in IV.

IMO, parents need to accept the fact that their kids are going to be partying like this. They are grown ups now, and should be left to make their own decisions. Once again, this is just my opinion.

What is this I don’t even

Honestly, why would you post that on THIS forum? Way to potential detract people from coming here.

Partying, drinking and all that is completely optional. I haven’t been forced into doing anything I don’t feel comfortable doing socially, so it’s really just up to the individual to make their own decisions. I’m a guy and I find that link rather offensive.

UCSB is a great school… no need to put this crap out there. This sort of thing exists everywhere. As a UCSB grad, it annoys me when people focus on the “party school” image rather than the fact that I worked my ass off for my good grades and really took advantage of the challenging academics at the school.

Sincerely,
a good looking AND smart girl who went to UCSB

ckl22 :
Please give me your first and last name so next year I can make sure that I keep myself and my sorority sisters to stay outside of a ten foot perimeter from you, considering you’ll be oozing about a thousand STD’s apperently.

ew.

I hope prospective students are aware that media like this about UCSB exists in a lot of places, but that the majority of it is exaggerated. Media, even our own Daily Nexus, likes to focus on the most extreme of people around here. No, we’re not some drunk, STD-ridden, promiscuous, party-animal school, although thats what media will often try to get you to think. They have a story to write, better make it interesting.

As for me and most of the people I know who go here, it is nothing like how it is portrayed in articles like the one posted originally.

yeah party scene is over exaggerated
