I applied here EA as my safety school, and was actually accepted to the honors college. I picked it bc of the 5 colleges, I heard Amherst was a cool town, and I like New England. I don’t know if I really intended to go there. Now that I’ve been accepted into the CHC and offered some scholarships, I wanna know more. Can anyone tell there reasons for interest or what they like about it more specifically? How’s the vibe?
Look at this post that I started a couple of weeks ago. Lots of good info in here as well.
Congrats on getting into UMass!! One thing to think about when considering Amherst is our awesome summer programs for incoming students! If you’re looking for something to do this summer, a way to feel more comfortable when you get to school, and/or a way to get ahead academically, let me tell you about the Jump! program!! Jump! (exclamation point included) is a four week program for incoming UMass freshmen. you would spend a month living on campus in the (air-conditioned) honors college dorms and taking five credits of classes. The staff of this program is all current umass students (myself included) and we will be working to design fun and helpful programming for you all summer! we will be organizing events with organizations on campus (like the Student Government Association, the Stonewall Center, and the UMass Athletics Department), plus trips to nearby museums, local hikes, and into the surrounding towns of Amherst and Northampton. Jump! will give you a chance to make friends, learn about the area, and become connected before you even start your freshman year.
If you’re interested in the program, please check out our website for more detailed information, testimonials of past students, and how to register: http://www.umass.edu/summer/jump/
