why undecided?

Hi i've applied to USC and got admitted=)
But the problem is that i've been admitted as an undecided major, when i've applied for computer science and computer engineering as my first choice and computer science (games) as my second choice.
I've confirmed with them that it was not mistake.
So can anyone please tell me whether the process of declaring computer science as my major gonna be difficult, because i did not get into the major, when i've been admitted.
Also how do you declare your major in USC.

My daughter received a similar acceptance. She did not get into Annenberg - but was admitted as undeclared. So she took some GE’s and a couple of Annenberg courses and then “applied” to Annenberg her second year. They basically looked at her USC grades.
Your desired majors are popular and - I am almost certain - will require an okay from Viterbi to get in. But if this is what you want…come…work hard and get good grades…and then applly.

As an undeclared major, you can begin taking some of the requirements for computer science the first semester such as math and physics courses. Here’s a little more information about switching to a major within the school of engineering: [USC - Viterbi School of Engineering - Change Major to Engineering](http://viterbi.usc.edu/students/undergrad/advisement/registration/changeofmajor.htm)

It would be best to talk with your academic advisor at orientation when you register for classes, and tell them you are interested in computer science. They will be able to help you pick the appropriate courses to enroll in.

Hope this helps, but if you have any other questions feel free to email me at vstudent@usc.edu!

I wanted to double check the information I posted so I just went to Viterbi Office of Admissions. The link I posted is for current students who want to transfer into engineering, but since you haven’t started taking classes yet all you need to do is give the office a call! It sounds pretty simple, and you can get a hold of an admissions director at (213) 740-4530. They’d be happy to get you started.

I was admitted as an undecided to College of Letter, Art, and Science, I am just wondering if I were to meet all requirements to apply to engineering for my second year, how hard would it be to get into the college of engineering?

I have a few friends who started in a different major, and transferred into engineering but it’s easier to start off at Viterbi. I would give the Viterbi Admissions office a call at the number I posted above and they’ll be able to help you out!
