Can this essay be a more creative short story focusing on why one aspect of vandy is so awesome vs a whole essay on its a great location, perfect HOD major, and i like the size of the student body?

Do they want specific and many details, or a creative little story on why one particular aspect of it is a fit?

I can't answer your question with any real expertise, but my D's Why Vandy focused on how she saw herself fitting in to the Vanderbilt community based on her previous experiences there. Although she mentioned her summers there for PTY and tennis camp and visits to her brother, she focused on what involvement she envisioned for herself based on attendance at some Vanderbilt programming during her high school years. S's essay was more generic and mentioned the appealing aspects of his campus visit. I think D's essay was a real winner ( but I'm prejudiced)!

I would recommend starting with generals (beautiful campus, great location, awesome academics), then get into a specific or two. Perhaps mention a professor, or a program. Explain why you and that professor/program mesh well. Don't make something up, make sure that it is truly something that you want to do, and explain not why you are perfect for it or why it is perfect for you, but explain why you are perfect for each other.
