Why was I rejected?

@greenwitch

Yea. I have heard that SBU students are not the happiest people. Its a shame what happened to your friends son.

I think when people look at SAT or ACT score ranges they forget that people in the middle of the distribution are probably distinguishing themselves in ways that are valuable to the school. Hypothetically let’s break the distribution of SAT scores for this school into thirds:

At 1790-1890, you’re all but a shoe-in - they need a compelling reason to say no.

At 1690-1790, you’re in the should we/shouldn’t we pile of applications. The grades may have had an impact.

At 1580-1690, you’re on the outside looking in - why do we want you or what is it about you that should make us overlook your score?

Of course, that’s all hypothetical and rough guessing but it might provide some insight.

Congratulations on admission to a good school!

Geneseo isn’t that good.

Wow Greed, you’re so arrogant that I think you are just trying to **** people off.

Not everyone can go to a top school and get perfect scores, or everyone would. Lay off.

"Binghamton is the best of the SUNYs, so no surprise there "

…Geneseo is moderately more difficult to get into than Binghamton. Geneseo’s average SAT’s for last falls incoming freshman was 1342!!! Only around 20 pts. lower than such well regarded privates such as Bucknell. You should feel very fortunate to get into Geneseo, we’ve had students at our school with much better stats get rejected. I was under the impression that Geneseo had a “1200 SAT filter” on incoming fall freshman that don’t have a “hook”???

Well the obvious reason for being rejected is that the school does not want you as a student. I am not sure why you were not waitlisted and just completely rejected, I assume your application had little to no preference.

What is your problem Greed? Im looking for an answer to my question not a fight.

Greed seems to ■■■■■ all over the place.

Like someone else said admission is random. I got rejected from U of M Ann Arbor but accepted to Cornell and Penn. Couldn’t care in the least, just be happy you got into your first choice and shrug off whatever other ones didn’t accept you.

I would say 1900+ is far from perfect.
