I received a pell grant as part of my FAFSA and I indicated that I was interested in work-study. Does your EFC have to be 0 to get work-study? I’m not upset that I didn’t get work-study, because I’ll just get a job on my own when I go to college
Your school may have run out of funds. Call and ask at FA. My daughter’s school starts a waiting list at the beginning of the year, and if any WS is declined or if students awarded WS do not attend, the WS funds are re-awarded.
I’ve received 3 financial aid packages so far and none of them offered work study. I called two of the colleges and one said they did not offer work study to anyone, but is available upon request, so they added it immediately. Another one said to request work study in writing. I assume the third will also offer it if requested. Interest in work-study was definitely indicated, so I guess a lot of colleges just leave it out until specifically requested. Contact the financial aid office of the college you will be attending to notify them of your interest. By the way, my EFC is practically the entire cost. Aid only had a scholarship and loans.
