Why Wellesley?

Same thing I've been wondering. Could some Wellesley girls share what they love about Wellesley?

Wellesley was challenging, rigorous, supportive, engaging, intense ... it was wonderful. The professors love to teach. My major advisor was the most inspiring educator I have ever met: his lectures were thrilling, and he never accepted an opinion without substantial evidence to support the conclusion. The students care passionately about their interests, but they also

Physically, the campus is stunning. The lake, the pond, the arboretum and botanical gardens, the meadows and greens; all of it is beautiful and well-kept. The architecture is interesting, even if you don't like all of it.

I spent the majority of my time at Wellesley feeling absolutely content with life. Although I was more than ready to graduate, I now want nothing more than to go back. I want to be around students who care enough to question the status quo. I miss the intensity and the vibrancy.

After graduation, the alumnae network is impressive. I live in the rural-ish Midwest, and there are a good number of alumnae in my area. My friends and I are establishing an alumnae club for one of our organizations, and we plan on using it to reconnect current and former students. The list is long and wide-spread.

It says something that all of my closest friends are from Wellesley. All of them. Even though we live thousands of miles apart, now, we talk to each other frequently and make plans to visit each other on a regular basis. As a first-year, I didn't believe the campus staff member who told me that I would meet my life-long friends at Wellesley; as an alumnae, I can see that she was right.

At the same time, my glasses aren't so rose-colored that I think Wellelsey is right for everyone. It isn't. You have to find out, for yourself, if it's the best environment for you.

Thanks for sharing that!

Actually as a first year it's not difficult to imagine the people that I've become really close with in this short span of time as being my life long friends. And in addition to everything she's said above...I know that after a long week of hard work the weekends are exceptionally fulfilling. I have never had more fun in my life than I have had since I've been at Wellesley both on and off campus. But mostly off... be prepared to put that Wellesley bus to good use.
