I stole this from the Columbia board, who stole it from the Yale board. I think its pretty cool. Basically, you give reasons why you’d be accepted, why you’d be deferred, and why you’d be rejected.

Okay I’ll go

I’ll be ACCEPTED because I’m from Philadelphia and Penn will go as low as 1200 for Philadelphians. I have a 1470. Penn likes my school and accepted 4 guys out of 5 applicants last year all with lower or matching stats than mine. I took the most rigious courseload. My EC’s are decent (2 clubs and 2 sports) and my recs/essays are good but nothing spectacular.

I’ll be DEFERRED because Penn knows 15 other kids from my school are applying in the RD round and they want to consider me along with the rest of them. They also want to see how I will do in the first semester with all my AP classes.

I’ll be REJECTED because my EC’s are too boring, and I didn’t do a single one straight from freshmen to senior year. My rank isn’t good enough (12/220), and my recs say that I have a huge ego (very true). And my grades show a slight downward trend in junior year, even if I did two demanding sports all year that year.

I'm not applying ED, mind you, but I still think this looked fun.

I'll be ACCEPTED because I never settle for less than I know I can do. There is no way I could have worked harder or earned better grades--I've always tried my hardest. I've worked very hard in my science extracurriculars, sometimes coming home from school at 2 am after staying late on a Friday. My teachers like having me as a student, so I should get pretty good recs. My counselor really enjoyed my essays, which I put many hours into. I'm a nice, honest person who never gives up. I really hope it shows in my application. I'm taking the most rigorous curriculum that my school allows me to take (which seems to be a big deal in the admissions process, from what we see in that Christian Science Monitor) and I've been getting great grades and test scores.

I'll be DEFERRED because... wait. I'm applying RD.

I'll be REJECTED because I'm not very leaderish-y. I'm not sure if Penn will see me as contributing to the diversity of the campus. I'm not sure that they will think my presence will be felt. Two kids from my school with better grades are applying. The competition this year is fierce. I'm not sure my recs will be able to give the admissions people anything to chew on. My teachers might overlook my personality... I might be only characterized as a homework robot who never sleeps (which just isn't true). They might not be able to get beyond "he's a hard worker."

I AM APPLYING ED, MIND YOU, BUT I STILL THINK THIS LOOKED FUN.
DEAR GOD IM HUNGRY, AND IM STARTING TO GAIN A CHOCO-LIKE INSANITY.

I'll be AcCePtEd because I have worked insanely hard to progressively up my GPA as much as humanly (and often more) possible, so they know I care and am trying my hardest. I additionally know how to work the system in an impossible way and would be great for business h4x0ring. My SAT2 scores are good, and my SAT1 is decent enough (meets average). Also my intellectual capacity is superior to 99% of individuals, and if accepted to Penn I would excel at an unimaginable rate. My rank is good, and I hope my hook is just what they want...and my essays are good.

I'll be DEFERRED because my SAT1 score wasn't just high enough, but it was decent. And my SAT2s were good but nothing insanley special, and my rank/gpa were good but nothing insanely special.

I'll be REJECTED because they think my SAT1 isn't high enough. I dont have a lot of EC's, and my freshman year grades were bad. Additionally my essays might come off as too ****y and not flowing well enough.

Or WAHTEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR i duno. im so hungry. GOD DAMN IT.

choco this is all your fault. every time i type choco, i think of chocolate, and get hungrier. more hungry. hungriererereireir. dude. if we get into penn we're def having a CC ED PARTY. It'll be a potluck. I'll bring the Soda.

i'll be ACCEPTED because i have a good GPA, strong courseload.. and.. maybe ONE good essay.. and perhaps they think i'm a good leader. maybe.

I'll be DEFERRED because nothing is spectacular about me but am not terrible.. SATs weren't that great but not bad

I'll be REJECTED because my math testing is horrid compared to what I should be doing according to my grades and i'm applying to wharton, and maybe my teacher actually wrote something horrible about me. 0.0

Accepted: The guy reading my admission folder got laid the night before and feels like making some random Jersey girl's day.

Deferred: The guy reading my admission folder isn't a guy, but a woman.

Rejected: The guy reading my admission folder got shot down last night by a girl with my name and tears my app to shreds so it never even reaches the committee

yeah...there are so many dumb factors that go into it

hmm..im in central too, itd be pretty cool/creepy/completely ridiculous if you ended up going to my school or something...what county are you in? im in mercer

lol nope. wrong county already. somerset.
and haha my friend randomly confessed being a HUGE cc reader.. she even went into archives
sadly she doesn't actually post. but that was somewhat comforting knowing ppl also spend their entire day on this site... that's in my classes

lolol.. my friend says MIT has this professionalish board (w/ ppl that are paid to maintain it) that he reads guiltily.. on the MIT site, so that's why he doesn't come here

I'm accepted because I have great essays and recommendations. I also have a pretty decent rank and I'm from philadelphia =) . I also have few activities that I showed great dedication , I was members for all 4 years and became a officer of that club/activity as my year progressed in high school. I have great leadershilp abilities. Penn likes me and my school alot since they accept about 40-50 people from my school per year ,hopefully I'm one of them.

I'm deferrred because my SAT is extremely low as well SAT II is not that great. Penn might wants me to retake those tests.

I'm rejected of my low standardize test scores.
