<p>Hey, I had the same thing...but I BEAT THE SYSTEM! haa if you convert it to pdf first (go to print it, and then change "print as" to pdf, and it will ask if you want to save it as pdf) it will upload fine. That was pretty scary for a minute, though.</p>

<p>hey i am so sorry i didnt see this until just now! this **** stresses me out. okay, are you working on a mac? when i hit print, on the screen that pops up is an option to save the document as a pdf. or are you on a pc?</p>
<p>Actually, Columbia's application system has complex algorithms that briefly analyze your essay. If it deems it mediocre, then this so-called "uploading issue" arises.</p>
<p>I don't know if this applies to the Columbia application, but on the Common App a student who was having trouble uploading essays e-mailed their help desk and found out it was because he or she had a pop-up blocker enabled. Once it was disabled, there was no problem uploading the essays. It's worth seeing if that is the problem here.</p>
