So I first took the sat in March of 2017 and I got a 730 RW score. Then, I just practiced using Khan academy. This time, I prepared for around a month during the school year and used Erica Meltzer’s The Critcal Reader, yet i got a 690?! Can someone please help because I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
Hey! I feel like increasing your SAT reading score really comes down to reading as much as possible and figuring out your pacing style.
I believe you have 13 minutes for each of the 5 passages. Even though it’s been several years since taking the SAT, I personally struggled with pacing on the reading section which led me to second-guess myself!
Here’s some articles I found about getting a groove down for the reading section:

Also, familiarize yourself with what types of questions the Reading section includes. The New SAT Reading tests you on words in context, command of evidence, and analysis in history/social studies and science. This means there will be some new question-types, including citing evidence questions.
Oh, and read, read, read! Keep in mind that there’s two types of passages on the SAT Reading section: nonfiction and fiction. My advice would be channeling your strengths to get the gears going if you sit down to take that test again!
Good luck! And btw, 690 is still fabulous in my books!
@schoolcounselork Thanks! I’ll utilize all these tips.
