Space is overrated.

This statement is an opinion. One that I happen to disagree with.

What is there to do then?

Same stuff city kids do. Theatres, plenty of restaurants, hang out with friends, etc.

Dang, I didn't know city people looked down on us so much. Thank goodness my suburb doesn't fit any of the stereotypes you listed.

Yes, we look down from our high-rises. And laugh.

Not really, i'm just not into that whole fresh air and peace thing.

lol, look at the nicest houses in the philly suburbs. there are huge 10 million dollar houses around. same thing with the NYC suburbs. hard to build mansions in the middle of a city. unless you're Bruce Wayne.

oh, and so this doesn't happen. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/high-school-life/655264-got-suspended-arrested-yesterday-my-life-100-over.html

there are 10 million dollar houses in society hill/center city/rittenhouse

THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED ANYWHERE. ugh, how dare you bring that up?

:P

^ you brought it up first, i linked to the thread you created ;)

and yes, there are expensive houses within the city limits, but you need open space to build a legit mansion.

The thing I like about living in the suburbs is because of the houses. I don't want to live in a building with everyone else, it's like an apartment. AND you get to have a lawn and garden...and it's A LOT prettier with trees and more plants, instead of building, buildings...and you get the sense of serenity and peacefulness. Anyway, it's just nice. Away from all the busy, dangerous commotion of a city.

Oh yes, the dangerous city. sure
what is so great about a mansion and a lawn anyway?

4. Walmart is the only clothing/food/electronics/music/everything store
[/quote]

NO ONE in the suburbs go to Walmart. Okay, maybe like two people. But Target is where it's at. Also, we live in the suburbs because it IS a nice place to raise kids and be raised. Plus, I think it's safer. It just depends on the type of lifestyle you want to have.

I would like to live in the cities until I marry. Then, I plan to move to the suburbs.

I will say...a city is probably more convenient, but suburbs is a nicer place to live, I think. Especially for a family. I guess I could understand if you're living alone and you prefer the city more. Also, a lawn symbolized that suburbs have space and houses are prettier. It's not all clustered. And it's nice to retain , like I said before, trees and plants. And because there are no tall buildings and pollution, the sky is really beautiful and wider.

It's funny. I thought the stereotype was that all the rich people lived in the suburbs and had all the fun there, and all the poor people sat around in the city.

I guess not.

I could never imagine driving everywhere. I've been walking/catching the subway all my life. The sky?

Meh, who cares about sky. It's not going anywhere, lol.

and really, it's not like there are random people who are going to jump out and attack you. It's super safe unless your bffs with drug dealers.

SAM: there is the 'burbs, then the 'hood, then the city

There are more than two options. And personally i'd take compton over beverly hills any day

maybe not

For the record, neither of these are suburbs.

Eh, well i knew compton wasn't. i'm no expert on SoCal

People who like in the suburbs have nooooo idea how lucky they really are. They could be living in the hell town http://pics4.city-data.com/cpicc/cfiles14214.jpg that I live in.

Atleast you're CLOSE to the city.

AWWWWWWWWWWW....is that the whole thing?

I loved the chicago suburbs when I lived there, but singapore is pretty sweet as far as city life goes too

I used to have family in the Chicago suburbs. Nice place.

Well I guess you have to look at the type of suburbs, because I live in one and it looks nothing like (loonlake)'s. That looks pretty scary...
