when if one fills out the Common Application you essentially get an extra chance to write one additional essay.

Here is how I figure it:

if one were to do just the Penn application, you fill out two short “essays” and two real essays. you do 300 characters on what you do for fun and 300 characters on a Penn professor with whom you would like to study or conduct research with. you also fill out the two main essays for Penn.

BUT

if one did the Common application with the Penn supplement, you write everything that the Penn application asks plus one additional essay on the main Common application.

So, it seems to me that by doing the Common Application plus Penn supplement, a candidate gets one extra essay to write essentially. is this right?? and if so, Penn admissions officers would definitely look at that “extra” Common application essay and not disregard it correct?

Is there anything I am missing out on here? Thanks for any help.
