Why would anyone go to Drexel?

I don't care if you guys think it's a good fit or that Drexel offered you a nice scholarship; the bottomline is that it's in the ghetto. You're basically planning on living 4 years in the hood of Philadelphia. You couldn't find any other college(s) that suited your needs, that aren't in the ghetto. I find that hard to believe.

here's an idea..grow a pair.

drexel isnt the ghetto and if you think it is you are EXTREMELY sheltered. Temple is the "ghetto". Drexel is literally connected to three other college campuses and is down the street from Market St. Sure if you head north TOWARDS TEMPLE, its a little more dangerous, but anyone with half a brain can navigate through the area or avoid it at odd hours.

The first statement is very naive. Drexel is not in a great neighbor, but what does "the hood of Philadelphia" mean. This appears to be a racist statement. Does it mean if the school is near neighborhoods with black people , all of the inhabitants are gangbangers. Guess what, most cities have black, white,Asian and Hispanic people. It is obvious ncody0220 never lived in a city. Maybe we should have gated-neighborhood colleges for ncody0220.

Greatest. Post. EVER. XD

I've been to Drexel and the area wasn't that bad.
It's in the city so you can't expect clean or beautiful environment.
I saw tight security around the campus too,
so it's really not that bad.

Drexel is a dump to put it lightly.

Drexel's area is not bad at all and if u think its the "ghetto" then your really sheltered or your just a *****. In that case your should grow sum balls.

The area surrounding it is. There's no reason to go to Drexel. Period.

i agree, Drexel is located in a terrible part of the city

loslobos71: (from your previous post) -
"FWIW, I've been to Israel 3 times within the last few years for extended periods of time--4 weeks, 1 week, 1 week. I've never had a problem."

Interesting....you think nothing of going to Israel, where there have been serious safety issues, but University City, Philadelphia, home to Drexel and University of Pennsylvania, are not safe enough.

Why go to Drexel, you ask? Then, I guess you would say, why go to University of Pennsylvania, right down the block? Duh......

Israel is ridiculously safe. Stop watching CNN. It's a bunch of bs. Philly is much more dangerous than Israel. And no, I wouldnt go to UPenn.

Let's take a crack at this poor thread. First, let's start with the first post:

ncody0220 - "I don't care if you guys think it's a good fit or that Drexel offered you a nice scholarship; the bottom-line is that it's in the ghetto."

I'd like to start off by pointing out the fact that this individual does not 'care if you think it is a good fit' meaning, his judgments and comments are not in the best interest of the reader.

ncody0220, you are extremely misguided in your own views on Drexel. That Drexel is located in the 'ghetto' is far, far from the truth. Perhaps Philadelphia may not have the best image of safe, I think it is safe to say that North Philadelphia is a lot more 'dangerous'. Of course, this would all depend on your idea of the 'ghetto' - who knows; maybe you think the Hampton’s is the ghetto.

loslobos71 - "Greatest. Post. EVER. XD"

You continue to astonish me as to how much an individual can be misinformed and naive. If you think ncody0220's post is the 'best post ever', you perhaps need to review your standards. Your opinion is your opinion - but let's not add to the fire, ok?

"Drexel is a dump to put it lightly."

To put it lightly, your statement is a 'dump'. You don't provide any evidence, premises, or facts whatsoever. You don't even attempt to back up your own opinions, let alone false facts. I've said it before: Visit Drexel's campus, and see with your eyes open. A dump is usually classified as inhabitable - be careful with your word usage.

"The area surrounding it is. There's no reason to go to Drexel. Period."

Ok, so I guess PENN is a dump? And Center City? Think before you type, you'll do much better when posting.

"Israel is ridiculously safe. Stop watching CNN. It's a bunch of bs. Philly is much more dangerous than Israel. And no, I wouldnt go to UPenn."

So, according to your logical, CNN is a bad source of news and information. How so? Please, enlighten me more with your wisdom and provide evidence as to how CNN is 'bs'. I won't argue on the safety of Israel, as I've never been there, nor have I researched on the living conditions there. But I can say, Philadelphia is much safer than you think, and if you are afraid to live here, how will you every live in a city?

And yes, you would go to UPENN if they admitted you. Stop lying to yourself.

To all who tried to counter-argue these obviously false views, good for you. But we can do so with more evidence, more information, and more proof. Perhaps then, can these misinformed people can make a better judgement and come to a better conclusion.

To make a statement is easy: To make an argument is difficult.

Nope. I wouldnt.

drexel is right next to penn! Its all college to me…i never saw a city on those campuses
