Why would anyone want to retake a 33+ ???

I understand retaking a 32. I still kind of think there really isn't a point but I guess a 33 or higher looks slightly more impressive than a 32. What I don't get is, why would anyone want to retake a 33+ ?? I mean first of all, you literally only got a few questions wrong on the whole test and there is no guarantee you'll get those lucky extra points next time. Second of all, with a 33 you're in good enough shape for almost any (if not any) university in the entire country. It just sounds like a waste of time and money to me.

Honestly, what is the point?

At the school I’ll be going to, with a 33 I’d get a $10,000 scholarship and with a 34 I would get a full ride…I would definitely retake if I got a 33. (I only have a 29).

According to SilverTurtle, an applicant to a prestigious school will be 100%+ more likely to get accepted if they had a 36 as opposed to a 35.

These kind of statistics greatly influence the decision to retake a standardized test.

Well, I would fall over dead with a 32 or a 33…

With the acceptance rates at Ivy League schools so low, every bit helps.

Ok state girl- what college? My son got a 34, so I’m curious who would give him a full ride for that.

First time my D took ACT she got a 33, but ran out of time on Math and had to randomly guess at the last 6 or 7 questions. She only got a 29 in Math which was definitely not representative of her math ability. Just took it again in December and got a 34 Math. In her eyes it was definitely worth the retake…

The first two times I took saw me getting very uneven scores like 28/29 in one section and 35/36 in another. The last time I took the test, I got 35 C, 34 E, 35 M, 35 R, 36 S!

choirfarm,

Not the college okstategirl was referring to but such colleges do exist.

Auburn doesn’t have guaranteed scholarships but an ACT of 34+ is needed for consideration for the best scholarship:
Presidential Scholarship

 • Requires a 34-36 ACT or 1490-1600 SAT score and a minimum 3.5 high school GPA for consideration.
 • Awarded at $60,000 over four years ($15,000 per year), a $1,000 technology allowance the first fall semester, and an invitation to participate in the University Honors College.

34, 35, and 36 are all better than 33. Just like 28, 29, and 30 are all better than 27. People have their own expectations and goals for themselves and reasons for them. It has always annoyed me that people can’t see this.

@okstategirl high five for 29s! :D

Take a look at University of Alabama Huntsville. Haven’t visited - just found it online. 34 and good GPA qualifies for Blue award.

I retook a 33 because I didn’t take the essay portion of the exam. That is one reason why people may choose to retake high ACT scores.
I ended up getting another 33, fyi.

I retook my 33 for the same reason. Got a 36 and a 10 in writing!

I got a 29. I will retake it though, to improve my transfer chances should I fail to be offered admission to my top college choices and feel the need to transfer.

I retook a 34 because I didn’t do writing the first time and increased a point.
