I am frustrated by the 500 character limit for the Why Yale question. There are several things I want to discuss, but I am finding that there isn't really room for more than one. I am stuck trying to decide what to focus on. I could talk about Yale's residential college system and its focus on its undergrads, but I feel like that topic is probably way overdone. Another one I want to talk about is the fact that Yale teaches the second greatest number of foreign languages of any university and that it promises to find a teacher for a student who wants to study a language that is not taught, which is exciting to me because foreign languages are my greatest academic interest, but I'm afraid that that reason will seem too minor/silly to the admissions board. :( Any thoughts?

to me, the foreign language one sounds the best out of those two. it shows your passion for languages and it also shows you researched yale and what it has to offer in that particular department.

Thanks, that is helpful! I think I will go with that :)

^Yes, definitely! I actually wrote about that as part of my Why Yale essay also…

eliana, you communicated what you thought perfectly well in your OP in far fewer than 500 characters.
