Why You Should Get a Lenovo, NOT a Mac

Lenovo X300 vs. Apple MacBook Air... Fight! - Engadget

Try to read the comments.

Though Lenovo is fitted more for business and dependable usability, get it nevertheless. It's cheaper than the Macs. It's better. It has more features.

However, if you're into how pretty a laptop looks and don't care about prices, then get a Mac.

I own Macs and Lenovos and I can honestly say that Lenovos are better. This isn't to say Macs aren't good. They're perfectly fine computers. But overall, Lenovo has the upper hand by far.

I tried to buy a Lenovo and they wouldn’t let me. Their customer service is horrendous.

Then again, I wouldn’t buy a Mac either because there’s something about parting with THAT much of my money for something just because it’s shiny.

I’d buy neither ;).

that just explains why you should get that specific lenovo instead of a macbook air
although I wasn’t planning to get either, that certainly doesn’t make me want to get a thinkpad over a macbook or an mbp

Lenovo, in general, > Mac. Not just the x300 and Air comparison.

everyone is in agreement that the air blows chunks.

who’s it for? the business man who wants to fit a laptop into his dossier because he’s too busy to bring his 17" business laptop with him to the airport?

the point of getting a mac is for Leopard which lenovo doesn’t have.

Wow, i think this is one of the first times i’ve encountered a Lenovo fanboy, this is funny.

Another one right here. I’ve never had a Thinkpad of my own, but from using them/reading about them, they are definitely better than a Mac could ever be. Don’t forget the video about the MacBook Air vs the Lenovo x300: [YouTube - Lenovo X300](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hnOCUkbix0) ;)

You know, some people DO get macs for OSX, and not just “because they’re shiny”

Lenovo fanboy here, too. :)

(I’ve been fanboying for ThinkPads all over this forum for a while. =p)

I have to agree: IBM/Lenovo > Mac in most cases. Even look at the Macbook features compared to those of the ThinkPad T61–they’re better (5400 RPM HDD vs. 7200 RPM HDD, etc.). Macs are just fashionable. Not that they aren’t good computers, but that Lenovo is just better. :)

I have a Thinkpad R61 and so far it’s been great. It’s not flashy and won’t catch any glances, but that’s not its purpose. Also, thinkpads from IBM (not sure about Lenovo after the takeover) are known for their build quality, and they actually hire engineers to design the chasis (magnesium plates).

However, Macs do have their pros. The 13.3 macbooks are light, and the macbook pros have an led screen. However, they’re expensive!

Also, I’d disagree about the hard drive. Not all thinkpad t61s come with a 7200 rpm hdd, especially when you can customize. The 7200s cost more.

I love my t60’s build quality, the magnesium coating on the lid doesn’t scratch like my old toshiba and it still feels sturdy and not creaky.

My T61 has! I have the 14.1" WXGA screen, and so far a few people have ooh’ed at it. They should. :)

The Lenovo build quality is solid, but their customer service is possibly the worst I have encountered with any business, let alone a corporation of their stature. Iceburns is not alone.

I love Macs, but god-forbid should I ever need to use a PC, I would definitely get an IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad over anything else.

Still, I strongly recommend Macs over ThinkPads. Don’t get me wrong, I love ThinkPads! Their quality of construction is legendary and surpasses that of Macs, and I happen to love their business-suit design. However, I find it hard on my part to recommend a ThinkPad over a MacBook/MacBook Air/MacBook Pro; besides their superior operating system, the bundled software (specifically, iLife including iPhoto/iMovie/iDVD/GarageBand/iCal) is unbeatable as well as their overall design.

I cannot stand it when people suggest that consumers buy Macs simply for the looks, because it shows genuine and archaic ignorance on his/her part IMO. The iMacs of the 1990s are far different animal than the iMac C2D of today. Mac OS 7/8/9 is NOTHING like Mac OS X.

I love lenovo!! I can throw my t61 into my back seat when I’m driving because I am not worried that it will dent or anything. Their build quality is very good. And I also love running linux on lenovo!! Everything is preconfigured correctly right after install. I don’t have to configure a single thing. Kudos to intel+lenovo combo.

I have never been able to like the Mac OS… If only there are macbook that comes with no Mac OS I might consider buying one actually. Also a slight note: in my school, there are tons of mac and pcs in the library clusters but interestingly the pc’s are always used and very few people use the iMac.

Maybe, everyone has a macbook and just want to use PC so that kinda explains why the iMac is untouched while PCs are used, but from my observation it doesn’t seem to be the case because people just use the comp in the libraries for printing and typing word. I wish the library IT would stop adding iMac and add some more PCs.

It’s funny pearlygate, because sometimes I wish I could buy a ThinkPad X300 with Mac OS X installed (on occasion, my MacBook Pro gets too hot). On the other hand, I would never touch Windows Vista/XP with a ten-foot pole.

But I guess to each his own.
