Why you will be accepted/waitlisted/rejected to CAL/UCLA?

I stole this from the Stanford board.

Just list the reasons why you think you will be accepted, waitlisted or rejected.

Here's mine.

Admit: 37+ honors units with gpa 3.7-3.9 (upward trend in grades), one leadership position (Student Trustee), tutor two subjects, summer internship with insurance company, AGS, PTK, strong personal statements, decent volunteering, dean's list if that counts for anything.

Waitlist: Will not be IGETC certified or have major pre-reqs done by time of application. Orginally, had a "D" in a class I retook and then earned an "A". Have a "W" for a class I never retried taking as well as a "no-credit" for a p.e. class I never tried retaking. No published articles or short-stories (English major). No professional writing credentials.

Reject: Same as waitlist reasons.

I don't relly get it...

IGETC ain't too much of a biggie I think.

NO - IGETC is VERY important. Be sure to be certified and have all classes done by the end of spring.

Admit: 4.0, tutoring, standout personal statement, sales job, dean's list also if it counts

Reject / Waitlist: Crappy ECs, no ECs, only award was in high school

Accepted: I will have IGETC completed by the end of Fall, taking rigorous & challenging course loads in intersessions i.e. 9 classes in Winter sesssion / 12 courses in Summer session + working part-time, EC's / Internship i.e. working at a law firm (I'm a Political Science major), Dean's List (not that important)

Waitlisted / Rejected: I will NOT have my major pre-reqs completed by the time I apply (but it will be completed by the end of Winter session), mediocre GPA (a 3.7 by the end of Fall), NOT TAP-certified, light course load during regular sessions, personal statements, retaking a course I originally received a "F" in for an "A" (an intro class not related to my major).

HAHA a 3.7 is not a mediocre GPA!

nikkei, from what i hear, your experience in your major will give you a big edge.

Accepted:
All required classes done. IGETC. Work, volunteer, highly non impacted major.

rejected: not high GPA, don't have physics done.

Admitted: IGETC, TAP, volunteer work, research, 15hr/week job, various honors societies.

Rejected: Very average GPA, competitive/impacted major, no physics.

Admitted: IGETC, URM(Black/Native American), TAP, PTK, AGS, 4.0, Life tragedies, easy major, Dean's list.

Rejected: Drug addiction to help me do the above.

Admitted: IGETC, Great Ec's, lots job exp., AGS, Volunteer, GPA 3.8, dean's list etc etc etc

Reject/Waitlist: Impacted major (econ), not-so-great personal statements, no agreements

Admitted: Finishing my personal statement and the work in my classes.

Rejected: Spending too much time on College Confidential.

i think the last rejected trumps any other one, sorry guys.

:] :] :] :] :] :] :]

Maximum Concentration,

So long as you do not talk about your drug addition in a positive light, I believe your a lock into at least UCLA.

Good Luck!

I just got a board posistion on PTK. hopefully this helps!

Congrats, kevintech!

It sure will!

haha thx, now just gotta keep those grades up! anyone done with apps yet? i just have one more essay to go.

Kev, what's PTK?
