Why you will get accepted

<p>the post about why you will get rejected was kinda depressing...</p>

<p>this thread might make you sound cocky or w/e
but I think some people need to brag about themselves to
ease pain and anxiousness and ultimately feel good about
themselves until 5:00PM on the 14th.</p>

<p>i like this one:
- Went to Summer College: LTMC Rocks
- Basically own in Hotel passion and experience
- Letters of recc own from everyone
- Ummm, I am not stupid ;)</p>

<p>I'll start...</p>

<p>1) Really good essay... very personal. many teachers and professors commented it's one of the best they've read in years</p>

<p>2)Good counselor rec.</p>

<p>3)Good ECs (passion, consistency)</p>

<p>4)High English proficiency (came to us 5 yrs ago) </p>

<p>5)115/120 TOEFL supplemented for SAT verbal score</p>

<p>6)Done things no intl. students normally do (medal from American legion, paid internship even w/o SSN, etc)</p>

<p>7)Did not apply for FA (since intl. student, cornell will be need-aware)</p>

<p>dude, this is a better forum too</p>

<p>1) I am ranked in top 2.5% of my class
2) I have great grades (excluding freshmen year)
3) I have insane amounts of community service. My harvard interviewer said that in his 12 years of interviewing, he has never met anyone with as much community service as me. :)
4) I have great letters of rec. My counselor put me in "one of top few encountered in his career"
5) I applied as a math major and I have always been in advanced math classes.
6) I am extremely hardworking
7) my common app essay OWNS!!
8) I want to be a doctor, but major in math, and I have volunteered for lots of childrens' cancer organizations and therapeutic horseback riding for disabled kids.
9) I am involved in LOTS of clubs and Honor societies (NHS, Spanish NHS, National Art Honor Society)
10) Im a pageant girl, and I bet you ivy leagues dont have many pageant girls! lol</p>

<p>after this, my ego has been inflated lol</p>

<p>Sure, but what happens after that. The "pain" will hit you harder if/when you get rejected and were confident about getting accepted. But, whatever helps you pass the days...6 Days...17 Hours...36 Minutes...41 Seconds</p>

<p>1) URM. African. the only URM from my school to ever apply actually.
2) first generation college student
3) teachers begged me to write the recs so they're gonna be amazing
4) GC loves me and she's written oustanding recs for me before. and she's adviser of my favorite club and she nominated me for the award i won for community service.
5) the other people applying from my school are applying to AEM and engineering and i'm the only one applying to CAS. and they're ORMs
6) went to the multicultural weekend and got a fee waiver
7) national achievement scholar (first person from my school ever)
8) tons of community service and awards for that
9) good grades in tough classes
10) good ECs, passion, leadership in my major.
11) this is random but modeling, fashion design awards. so not just the usual school clubs.
12) i'm gorgeous. haha jus playing, jus playing...a lil bit. =)
13) leadership
14) unique essay</p>

<p>I understand nameless1...
in no way i was insulting your thread or anything...</p>

<p>but power of positive thinking!
sure bragging about yourself doesn't help with coping with rejection, but
feeling depressed doesn't help either....</p>

<p>neway..
just soo nervous about the decisions
I wish i could sleep right now and wake up on Friday the 15th and check my decision!!!</p>

<p>my god...
you guys are some incredibly strong applicants...
boonies, are you CAS too?</p>

<p>so many strong applicants to CAS...</p>

<p>Personally, I think this thread is WAY more depressing the "why will you be rejected" one............. is it just me?</p>

<p>you're right ktoto. =(</p>

<p>Its all depressing, there is no way not to be depressed right now. unless you had an idea about what your decision will be</p>

<p>Depends on how you look at it. Me, I'm the kind who has to brace herself for the worst. At least in public. I'm trying to prepare myself to go either way.</p>

<p>teeheehee....
you have amazing stats and hooks... why would you be depressed?</p>

<p>ach44 is right... everyone is depressed</p>

<p>-ed
-legacy
-good recs/ extra recs to enforce my essays/good essays
-good ec's;show passion(somewhat) and well roundedness
-probably only one in my school doing ed to cornell
-upward trend gpa
-good 1st quarter grades
-rigorous classes
-top 7% or so in class?</p>

<p>i feel like this is more depressing...at least on the other one you could've been like hey at least I'm not as bad as that.... lol</p>

<p>Keep in mind, I applied to Engineering
-Recs from my physics and math teacher, my math teacher recently showed it to me....a.m.a.z.i.n.g.
-Taken vector calc and diff eq
-800 math SAT, 800 math 2c, 800 SAT physics, 5 ap calc ab, 5 ap phys b
-AIME
-I did really well in this state math contest thing
-My essay is interesting and written really well according to people who have read it (english teachers among others...)
-UPWARD trend gpa
-Rigor of courses
-ED
-I'm awesome at competitive pistol shooting... (this is the one I elaborated on in the 150 words or whatever)
-Born in Quebec, Canada. My parents are Polish. So I knew Polish, then French, then English. Maybe that counts for something? x_x</p>

<p>God I hope I get accepted...</p>

<p>lol, i think we all just look like strong applicants bc were naming our good qualities. If you guys look at my post in "why I will get rejected" you guys are all thingking, "THANK GOD IM NOT AS BAD AS HER!!" lol, seriously
anyways, wowser, i am applying to CAS for a math major</p>

<p>depressing true, but boonies' right</p>

<p>it just sounds awesome b/c everyone is squeezing their brain juice out to name their good qualities (therefore more things to say) while when talking about bad qualities, people tend to say fewer things or subconsciously protect their minds by saying fewer things...</p>

<p>neway..
everyone sounds soo qualified!
I just hope i am among the 50% who got accepted...(from last year's stat..according to a rep)</p>

<p>I saw hope from the "Why you will get rejected" thread.. and now they are all Gone.</p>

<p>-Great SAT and SAT2 scores
-huge upward trend (just because i sucked too much from the beginning)
-Great contests rankings
-Very strong math and sciences background
-Rigorous curriculum</p>

<p>err the list stops here >< noo... oh well I will go back to the "why rejected" thread now =P.</p>

<ul>
<li>Excellent SAT and fair SAT 2 Scores</li>
<li>Stellar Counsellor Recommendation Lolz he actually showed to me and let me keep a copy> " leader of tomorrow and 1% of 450 students"</li>
<li>excellent GPA and rigorous courseload</li>
<li>Many awards and lolz, doing something pretty interesting as well</li>
<li>applied to a easy college</li>
</ul>
