Why?

Why does everyone post all they have done throughout high school and ask for their "chances" as if the people reading it are actually admissions officers? The opinions they receive really won't determine whether or not they will apply. Also, more often than not, these people have perfect stats. The only thing that is for sure is that you won't get in if you don't apply...you always have a chance, be it big or small, so please save us all some time and don't post any "chances" threads.

Thanks

I agree that chances posts and threads are worthless, which is why I almost never respond to them. But for some reason people gotta have 'em. They are among the most popular features of CC.

They are essential for advices.

alexlawrence, what is the point of this post? the retaliations to "chances" thereads are as empty as these threads because the do no change anything at all!

I dont think so, it gives you feedback on which area you should focus or whether applying to this school is any realistic

Yeh, and alot of people are simply looking to be talked about. Going oh look at me, and praise me! But that isn't everyone luckily. Others are sincere.

I disagree, a few give good advice, but everyone else seems to be tearing them down and comparing stats to their own. Comparing stats is a waste of time; you can get a general idea of what range Princeton is looking for by reading a few posts during the panicked ED or RD time.

i think posting stats allows students to see how competitive their fellow applicants are....and more than just petty comparison,i think it should inspire us to excel and be more competitive.
