Why do we think we will all get rejected? I don’t think anyone posted on here with confidence that they will get accepted. Why don’t we have confidence in ourselves!? Please don’t say carma.

Why I think I will get rejected:

Lower SAT scores
Not as much leadership in E/C
Weak Essays

I don't really stand out in any way. I'm well rounded, but haven't been really passionate about anything other than basketball, which I'm not good enough to play at Penn.

c mon guys, why make a post like this? instead, make a post saying why you will be accepted to keep morale high! only 8ish days left, don't be so hard on yourselves. we all tried our best, and will be happy in the end hopefully, so cheer up :)

oh, and don't wanna get hit by karma ><;

I've been thinking a lot about karma lately...

My point was to ask people why aren't their confidence levels higher, LOL. I am trying to pessimistic so I don't get hurt if I am rejected/deferred. Sadly, it isn't working that well. :(

I have a feeling I'll be deferred, but if I were rejected it would be because of:
- average SAT IIs
- average-ish SAT I
- No sports
- I'm Asian and I'm applying to Wharton.. yea.

Accepted because of:
- Great EC's and tons of leadership/passion
- Worked really hard on my essays
- great recs. I love my teachers!

Weak essays
*SATs that are ehn and don't reflect what I want to major in (AKA I applied as a physics major and i have 800 v and 680 m *f is wrong with me when I take tests lol)
*Just plain bad SAT2s, no language SAT 2
**3 on AP French

Accepted--

*Research in astrophysics in Russia and at Harvard
*Good amount of Leadership, nationals in debate
*Sexy GPA/rank
*1.5 hr Interview that went really well
**Good recs in general and one amazing rec from the Harvard guy I worked with

sat really low for Penn

"lopsidedness"...I'm not great at math and that fact stands out on my SAT's and transcripts and such

Reject
Low SAT (1300 range) and Average ACT (around 30 plus/minus 1)
No highschool spanning EC

Accepted
Superb Essays
Flattering Reccomendations
Good Rank/GPA
EC leadership in the ones that I started out of my own passion
1st generation from Asian refugee, applying to the college, from Texas (pretty unique if you ask me)

Defer/reject:
-Rank of top 3.5% (I'm competing against so many vals/sals)
-Subpar awards (2 of the awards I listed on my app were only awarded by my HS)
-Average SAT IIs (low 700s)
-Caucasian, Long Island NY
-Essays / recs ?

I dont think there's a weak part in my application. I have great SATs, II's, gpa, ECs, etc.
However, there isnt a SHINING STAR that grabs them in. I think thats whats really needed. hopefully my essays can do that for me =/

i think it's just depends on who they are looking for. maybe they happen to want a gal just like myself!!! or they want a different type of person to fill my position with basically the same stats and strengths and me.

No one knows. Keep your confidence. obviously you guys are ALL strong candidates or else you wouldnt be considering a school like this!!!
