<p>I think WIBSTR is pretty well known on campus. I would say that at least 75% of students have heard of it. Case even uses the slogan CIPACS (Case is perhaps a close second) in reference to WIBSTR. It was likely that your tour guide was just out of the loop (the tour guides are not screened based on their campus knowledge). Some students at Mudd live in more restrictive social bubbles than others.</p>
<p>@geek_mom, though it is true that a lot of Westies drink, I think you would be surprised how studious the dorm is. In fact, at least one survey showed West has the best average GPA in the school. In the three years I have been involved in the dorm, I don’t think an active freshman in the dorm has failed out, which is something a rarity. The reason why a lot (though surely not all) Westies are so crazy is because they are working so hard all the time. They channel all their stress into a small amount of free time. That (and tradition) are why the courtyard is such a mess all the time, why we break things and why we have a reputation for partying. If you talk to Mudd professors (especially in engineering) I think you will hear that many of their best students have been from West.</p>
