I've already been accepted to Wichita State University, so I'm not going to give you my stats, but can anyone give me any info on the atmosphere and relative quality of the school? It's my top choice if I make NMF, which I think I will. I'm going into AE, and I know there's a lot of aerospace companies in the area, thus good internship opportunities. I am wondering how good the academic aspect of it is (are the teachers good, etc.) Thanks for any replies, I will give a like to each and every reply.

I’m not sure if there’s anyone here who knows much about Wichita State.

If you’re a likely NMF, then there are probably better schools with AeroE that would give you a very good NMF award. Why are you limiting to Wichita State?

I don’t have 2 years of a foreign language in high school, so that limits where I can get in. Wichita doesn’t have that as a requirement, just three electives, and I have so many extra credits in math that that wasn’t a problem. AE seems to be a star program there. My second choice is New Mexico State University (only school in my state that has AE) if I don’t make NMF, since they give a pretty good NMSF scholarship. Wichita gives full rides to NMFs.

Another thing I like that I have heard about WSU is that it is a commuter school, thus the night life is pretty limited. I don’t want to go to a party school. I don’t really want to go away from home; if the local state university had AE, I would go there, but they don’t offer it.

Do any of the local companies recruit the grads? (You can get that info from the school’s career office.) Ask for company names. You can then call and ask to speak to someone at the companies HR dept. Tell them you are a high school student trying to decide where you want to go to school and ask if they have certain schools that they recruit from. I wouldn’t mention WSU by name and see if they do. If industry like the grads, that is all that really matters to you. It doesn’t matter what anyone on here thinks.

Thank you for that suggestion, ^, I will try that.

Are somewhat fluent in another language?

How are you getting thru high school w/o taking a FL? Did you test out or something?

I’m a rather non traditional student. I don’t need two years to graduate, just one. I am taking Spanish I this year to complete that. Most colleges want two, though. People always say on here that there is a college for everyone. So far, from what I’ve found, WSU might be that one. I know it’s not the top of anything, but I’ve heard nothing but positive things on its AE program from the few reviews I’ve found. Thank you for your concern, but I think you’re right, no one on here knows much about it. Thank you for your replies.
