wil screwing up in one particular subject affect me as badly as I think it wil?

My grades in science during middle school were always really high but when I got to high school I realized that I can't do anything science related. I got a C freshman year in honors physics, (all of my other grades were really good though) and I am going to get around a 79/80 in honors chemistry this year(my other grades are all mostly A+'s and A's). Next year I am taking AP Bio because even though I find science challenging and difficult I really enjoy learning it and I don't mind working hard to get grades that aren't stellar. I know I am competing with kids who have straight A's in every subject but will I stand a chance at schools like BC and NYU. I come from a very highly ranked public h.s. in CT and I want to major in Poli Sci or Journalism.

Any thoughts...
