Wilderness Orientation

Is anyone planning on going? It sounds like an awesome experience, but it's kind of expensive. Which one would you go to? I think I would want to go on the Sierra Nevada Backpacking trip, just cos you have to pay for a visa to go Kayaking and I'm scared that sharks will eat me.

Where can i find this information?

Same, I haven't heard anything on this, where can I get information?

I agree with the two people above.

I got a letter about it in the mail today, so I would say you will receive in a day or two
It looks expensive!!!

Yeah, it came in the mail today.

I would definately go on the kayaking one, if it did not cost $685 dollars. I was kinda excited when I saw it. At first I thought that that was included in the normal orientation, and was pretty pumped. Dartmouth and Amherst do orientations like that. One of my friends got to go river rafting for her orientation... I guess that is what makes Ivy Leagues better...

Yeah, Dartmouth and Amherst have orientations that don't cost 685 bucks because it's already included in the FORTY GRAND that the students are paying in tuition fees. Is that double, or triple what we pay per year?

same here, i got all excited until i hit the $600

$600 is small beans compared to the 40-45K they pay every year in tuition/room & board. Plus airfare if they live far, which they probably do.

I got that postcard in the mail.....

Sierra Nevada Backpacking Session - $600
Baja Cali Sea Kayaking Session - $685

danm i wanna go to the kayaking....but the $ is too expensive...

Well, I think the point of going to a UC school not a private schoo is to save money. Trying to spend as much as private schools makes no sense.

It's interesting and all, but I'd rather just... do it myself.

Does anyone know more about these trips? Are they actually good?
