I got into the University in December and signed up for housing as soon as the contract came out. My priority number is 101 so I am confident that I will get into one of my top two dorms. I've chosen suite style living and my top dorms are Wildwood followed by Gilchrist. However, I am considering flipping the two. I do plan on rushing which makes Wildwood seem logical since they don't require a meal plan, however, everyone makes the walk to classes sound daunting to say the least. Gilchrist has a prime location and, despite the fact that I am not an honors student, it says that non-honors students get dibs on the leftover rooms. The downside is no wifi and a required meal plan. If anyone has stayed in either and would be kind enough to leave input I would greatly appreciate it! I have to make a finalized decision in just a few days!

Don’t get your hopes up that any non-Honors students get into Gilchrist. Gilchrist was always honors overflow but a couple years ago they lumped it with Landis for Honors just to meet demand. I am pretty sure it’s going to be Honors-only this year.

Sororities require meal plans/dues from all members. If you are accepted into one of them, you are going to end up having to pay for the meal plan there and also the one on campus.
Seminole Dining offers a meal plan for those that rush and join a sorority, that is slightly cheaper than the others offered, but combined the two are still very expensive. It is highly recommended that anyone who is thinking of rushing does NOT apply to live in a building with a mandatory meal plan.
