Just consider that the adcom is made up of humans. Humans want to read something interesting. Unless you motivate it extemely well, an essay on 3 freshman B’s is just going to be inherently less readable than an essay on National Geographics, your sibling, or rubber bands. I think all of those ideas are spectacular.
