Will a bad grade in Art reflect poorly on my application.

So I am required to take an art credit and my mother decided that she wants me to go to a class by a professional where they grade you on you drawing skills not how well you know the information. I have no artistic talent. The teacher says I should spend a few hours a week practicing drawing to improve, but I don’t have time to sit and doodle, especially since my interest in it are almost obsolete. I am trying to do improve, but not all people are talented artist and I am one of them.

What type of art class alternatives are there?
Art History? Photography (traditional and/or digital) ? Computer Art? Architecture? Drafting? Other types of art (pottery, ceramics, painting) rather than drawing that may be more appealing to you?
Fabric arts (quilting, knitting, loom work)?

If you are REALLY stuck in the class get “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain”. It’s pretty fun and has some exercises in it that will quickly improve your skill set. As a non-artist myself it worked wonders. (I’m a non-drawer at least–my thing is photography).

I have to agree that doing art and the time it takes seems like unproductive time unless you really enjoy it.
I’d look for something that could help you later on–art history, photography, or something that is hobby-worthy. If drawing isn’t your thing and you think it never will be then it’s the wrong class to be in.
Art really should be fun but there are so many facets that you should be able to pick something of interest.

Is this a class at a college, a co-op, or a studio?

@myloves co-op.

Then it’s up to your Mom to give the final grade on your transcript. It’s not an official college or school which would send a transcript to colleges.

Have you talked to your Mom about this, and would she give you a grade that’s based on your effort/attitude instead of art aptitude?
