I’m in my junior year of High School and I’m trying hard to improve my grades and study habits. I didn’t do too good and made 2 C’s and a B last semester. This semester I’m working to make 4 B’s. The thing is that I had A’s and B’s my first two years. I read everywhere about people who screwed up freshman year and recovered but is junior year going to hold me back? I’m planning to make all A’s senior year or AT LEAST mostly A’s and a B or two. I have a modertly difficult schedule and I’m 1 of 9 that will have AP credit in my class of 124. I’m in North Carolina so most if not all colleges here look at 9-11 + 12th first semester.
It’s not too late to bring the C’s up. Just get an A this quarter
The classes were only one semester so I can’t bring them up.
Yeah, it’ll hurt especially because junior year is the most important. What colleges are you looking at?
The most selective is NC State but I’m looking more into App State and UNC Wilmington.
Even though colleges look at all four years, Junior and Senior year is important. If you aren’t doing as well as you would like to, try to do well for Senior year - especially the first semester. Those grades do get sent to colleges before the decisions.
You can also do a lot of extracurricular activities and volunteering to help your application when you apply.
Thank for the info. I started out this semester with 2 C’s and 2 B’s but I’m slowly bringing those C’s up. I’m afraid the B’s are pretty set in stone at this point. I’m hoping to do well my senior year. My school is moving from a 7 point scale to a 10 point scale so that I’m not looking for a big name college like UNC-CH. I would be perfectly happy at a school like ECU. I have a fair amount of EC’s but I could use more volunteering.
Focus on the important things. http://www.ecu.edu/cs-acad/ipar/research/upload/CDS_2014-2015.pdf shows that ECs are only considered. The most important items are GPA and class rigor. Scores and class rank are right behind those.
I have no doubt that I can get into ECU. It’s my number 1 safety. Do you have any other links similar to this for other colleges? This was very informative. I’m looking more at UNCW or App State. NC State is a low reach reach for me but I’ll give it a shot too.
yeah this is gonna b e painful.
How bad?
Google Common Data Set and the School Name. Most schools publish that data.
Thanks!
I got 3 D’s and a C my junior year and still got accepted to UCLA and UCB. Just give an honest reason as to why those bad grades happened and why that isn’t your true potential.
