I'm applying to Illinois Urbana Champaign and Wisconsin Madison. Top 40 colleges basically.

I recently received my report card and I was shocked I got two C's. Both were determined by my Finals grade.

I plan on getting a 2100 on my SATs, i have an impressive EC resume, i have a strong rapport with my teachers, and I'm planning on writing a very good essay.

I never got any Cs besides this year.

And the two classes were Spanish and one semester LA course.

Now, I'm studying biology in college so I dont think the admissions office will "care" as much as the more important classes such as Math and Science.

My question is: Will these two C's not get into the colleges I want?

^ I agree. It's not the end of the world. I personally, also got a C and a few B's and I got where I wanted to get into. (I thought it was over for me too)

I know a guy who got into UIUC with a few C's in math. He'd always struck me as a slacker, but he did attend a pretty well-known high school in the Illinois area. It may depend on how challenging your classes were, or how much E.C.'s you had outside of school.

If you have a strong GPA and SAT score, it won't really hurt you. My friend (who graduated in 2005) got a C once and he got into Harvard so... it won't hurt too bad.

fyi: his GPA was a 6.03 and he scored a 1450 (verbal/math) and yes he is African-American

What year are you? Freshman? Sophomore? Junior? If you are a Freshman, you have a little bit less to worry about because you have plently of time to improve/upward curves look good/some schools don't even look at Freshman year. If you are a Sophomore, it will hurt a little bit more, but still won't kill you. Just make sure your other scores are much better. If you are a Junior, it will hurt a lot more, but hopefully won't kill you depending on your overall GPA, class rank, and SAT scores (when they do eventually come out). Good luck with college admissions though.

im a junior unfortunately. I got a 2000 the first time i took it. got over 700 for both math and writing. bombed reading so im just concentrating on reading the next SAT so i can get a good superscore.

im really nervous but i guess i'll be alright.
