Will my chances to Yale be destroyed if I have one C? I don't have one, and I've gotten straight A's so far, but I have FST (Math) finals this coming Wednesday and, unless a miracle happens or I convince my teacher to take pity on me and give me a B, I'm afraid that's the grade I'm looking at. Will that leave me with a 0% chance at Yale? Does anyone know of someone who was accepted to Yale, or any Ivy League/top college with a C? I'm not going to major in anything Math/Science-related; quite the opposite.

Thank you

wait didn't you post a similar thread during midterm time?

just study hard and make sure that you get an A on the final, you still have like 5 days to study.

Plus (I don't wanna sound harsh) - but it seems like you're asking too much of the admissions committe peeps. Like you were thinking about applying w/ your 20-something ACT score and now you're trying to get in with a C. I'm sure people in similar situations have gotten in, but the more things like this that accumulate, the lesser your chances are of receiving acceptance.

I don't really think that yale is looking to accept students who get Cs mainly because they don't have to. they're going to have upwards of 22000 kids applying for less than 2000 spots next year and so they aren't obligated to make acceptions for that girl who got the C and the ok ACT score.

So yeah, like I said before STUDY hard for your math final - get an A on it (it IS possible). STUDY and retake your ACT again - you CAN get above a 30 on it.

Just continue working your ass off like the rest of us and you'll be fine when you apply next year ;)

It's true; I know they don't have to change their standards for me. That's why I was worried and asked. Yes, I did ask a couple of months ago. Believe me, Math this year has been unbearable, and I don't want to make excuses, but before this I had straight As in not only my non-Math classes, but my classes in Math as well. I have been busting my butt for throughout high school.
Trust me, I will try my hardest, I studied today and once Monday comes around, I'll be getting help from the teacher. However, as I've learned this year, things in Math are easier said than done.

Also, I have been hard at work to increase my ACT score, and I'm pretty sure I'll break the 30 mark.

One bad anything doesn't ruin an application. In fact, most people i know at yale had lower grades or SAT scores than you'd think.

Anyone with a C? ^

One C won't kill your chances....just make sure not to let any other grades slip and keep your test scores high...then you'll still have a shot

No worries; I got a B!
