Will a D on my 2nd semester average affect scholarships and getting into college?

Will a D on my 2nd semester average affect scholarships and getting into college?
I just found out today that I got a D in chemistry on my second semester average......This was really upsetting, especially since I only get A's and B's on my report card. I started off strong in chemistry at the beginning of the year (straight A's), then second semester came around...and I started having a lot of trouble with the material, no matter how much effort I put in. I was able to get my grades up to a B third quarter and fourth quarter though.......but then I did HORRIBLE on my chemistry final exam, and that affected my 2nd semester grade (ending up with a D)....my year average for chemistry was a B though.

A lot of people said to not worry about it too much because I'm not planning to major in science or anything.....and they also said that they look at consistency more than just one bad grade (because it was ultimately only my final exam that affected my semester average)...but I don't know to what extent that's true.

I'm really worried that this one D will affect my chances of getting into the college I want to.....and also applying to scholarships.

This was also my last year to do really good (since I'm a junior)...and my counselor said colleges don't look much at senior year.

So anyways...what I'm asking is. How much is this one D going to affect me? Is it going to ruin my chances of getting into the college I want to? And is it going to ruin my chances for scholarships? -_-

It can hurt your chances for competitive scholarships. These are the ones where the school looks over everyone’s transcripts and test scores and decides who to award their limited number of scholarships.

However, at schools that give assured merit scholarships for certain stats, you’ll be fine as long as your cumulative GPA and test scores meet the criteria.

What are your stats?

Grr this is the same for me except for us history
i wanted to go to csu fullerton
but on the website it says you must pass the the a-g classes
with a c or better
so im freaking out about my chances of getting accepted as well
my average gpa is a 3.04 and my sat’s were 1530
and my friend had lower than me and got into chico state
she says i should be able to get in
so i think you have a good chance too =]
