in 9th grade, I got a school assigned detention, which goes on my record

I talked to my GC and my principal, and they both said that colleges would not see it

my question is, do schools ask if I had any detentions?

I got it for writing that my favorite after school activity was masturbating on a school survey (it was funny at the moment, and to be honest, I still think its funny)

do you think schools will care? It was in 9th grade, and I've not had any other discipline since

my class rank is 70/759, and I have an 1860 on my SATs.

dude i honestly can't imagine that one dentention would make a difference between admission/rejected...either way i think telling the truth and explaining the situation is always the best way to handle these things b/c if you keep it under wraps and then it comes out somehow, you're in big trouble.

Yeah, they don't ask so no worries at all. Also, the two kids in my class who got suspended for parties ended up at Princeton and JHU, so that adds to why you don't need to worry.

they don't ask about detentions. Seriously, my sophmore year, I got one like every week. Don't stress, and don't mention it. It's not a big deal. :)

Ive gotten detentions and a Saturday School. The only thing colleges ask to see is a serious discipline issue(ie. suspensions). No need to be worried.
