Will a great-grandparent count as a legacy?

In the common app, it says to list people who are a legacy, stating them as being a parent, step-parent, sibling, or grandparent. If I put my great-grandfathers name under grandparent, is this bad?
I’m wondering if this is the type of school that will be upset if I don’t do exactly as they say or if they are okay if I push the definition of “grandfather” to include my great-grandfather.
Thank you!

No, do it. Duke counts affiliation in many ways: uncles, aunts, siblings, medical residents, etc. so great grandparent would certainly be notable.

It may not get the same level of attention as being the son or daughter of a Trinity or Pratt graduate.

Email admissions and ask. Don’t let them find out you conceivably “lied” on your app.
