Will a lack of extracurriculars affect my chances of getting into some colleges?

Hi, I'm a Junior, and don't have great extracurriculars...
These are it:

9th Grade
-Varsity Soccer
-Student Government
-EACO (a charity organization)

10th grade
-JV Soccer

11th Grade
-Varsity Soccer
-Track & Field
-Volunteer at a charity organization (Feed Nova Scotia) and have around 35 hours of community service for this year.

12th Grade (my EC's for next year)
-Varsity Soccer
-Student Government
-Track & Field
-Feed Nova Scotia

The reason my extra-curriculars aren't so consistent or great is because
I've moved three times to three differeent countries in my 4 years of
high school. Thankfully, I won't be moving anywhere my senior year.
Does the fact that I moved around so much make up for my lack of
great extra-curriculars?

It definitely makes your situation more unique than most. I also will have attended 3 different high schools in 4 years (between an Asian country and 2 different U.S. states), and I believe that if you can show that you’re committed to your greatest extracurricular interests despite having to put up with so many changes, that will definitely be a good thing in the eyes of adcoms.

Also, here’s a thread I posted a while back that you may find to be very helpful and relevant to your situation:

Can U tell us what types of colleges you’re targeting? Perhaps they are those that place little to no emphasis on applicants’ ECs. Many colleges are like that

Thanks, fledgling.

Duke University is my dream school…
But I’m still looking at other schools and keeping my options open.

If you want to get into schools like Duke – which is among the country’s most competitive colleges, those colleges that use ECs to pick and choose from their overabundance of high stat applicants, having some kind of strong EC, community service, sports, or job or research experience would be vital unless your academics are so extraordinary that you manage to stand out in their admissions pool.
