Okay, I get decent grades, B+/mostly A- average. I had 1 B- sophomore year. Will that destroy any chance that I have off getting into a selective school? Not ivies, but up there around levels where a 3.7GPA is slightly below average? I have good enough ACT and SAT and EC's to get into those schools, but do colleges look at individual grades when looking at GPA too, and will that affect the outcome even if I have a 3.7GPA?

Colleges will see that B-, but since there’s nothing you can do about it, I think you should just move on and not fret about it. You should know that it’s not going to “destroy any chance” that you have of getting into a selective school, but you should also know that it will probably hurt a bit.

Don’t worry about it.
