Hi so I submitted my appeal for UCLA, and I’m considering going to UCI if I still get rejected to UCLA.
The problem is that I’m getting a B for my English class which is not a major req, but it’s on IGETC. I’m thinking whether to drop it since I don’t want to ruin my 4.0. I’ve heard that it’s okay if I don’t complete the IGETC before transferring. However, I’m afraid the W will affect my appeal, so I don’t know which one is better for me.
Getting a B or getting a W?
Thank you ;_;;
You were accepted to UCI on the assumption of completing igetc. You have no idea if that will affect your admission. If it’s not too late maybe take P/ NP. Dropping definitely won’t help your ucla appeal- it only potentially hurts you. Your 4.0 doesn’t even matter.
I really doubt you will get rescinded from UCI if you get a B for English, but you might be if you drop the class. Yes the B may effect your 4.0, but it seems like your options are: a good school vs the chance at a great school with a chance of no school at all. Unless your appeal is centered around the fact that you have a 4.0, I would take the B. Good luck friend.
A B is fine. Don’t drop. The GPA doesn’t transfer with you and grad schools will be indifferent to one B at community college. (And a P/NP will translate as a C to grad schools.) Keep perspective.
Thank you guys so much!! I won’t drop it and I’ll work harder to get an A!! Hopefully I will be accepted to UCLA
