Will a warning of academic dishonesty ruin my chances?

I used notes on a Spanish quiz and was sent to the dean. I was let off with a warning and no disciplinary actions. They said it would be put on my record, but will colleges see that? I would like to get into University of Washington and become a doctor. I am also taking both high school and community college classes. I will graduate high school with an AA from the community college. I will not have any academic dishonesty record on either my junior and senior years of high school and none for the community college. I only got a warning from sophomore year of high school. I made a mistake, will it haunt me?

You should be fine. Keep you nose clean your last two years to prove the lesson was learned. You can ask your GC when it gets close to senior year if they will report the event. Even if they do, the college will consider that it was in sophomore year.

Your school should have said asked for permission to also release your record. If they didn’t, then…I don’t know. ANd if they did and you agreed to release this information to colleges, then there’s a chance it may hurt you. I can’t say too much for certain. There is no harm in not releasing the information since colleges will only inquire if they have good reason to. Most won’t ask about what’s on the record.

Thanks!

I don’t know where you got this. The Common App specifically asks schools for any issues (suspensions, etc) about students.

Yes, the common app asks, but it ONLY ASKS for disciplinary action taken. OP said there wasn’t any action taken like suspension or detention. There is only a note about the incident on OP’s record.

@MuffinLord1 please read my earlier post. I stated the same. I was correcting your extremely broad statement that “Most won’t ask about what’s on the record”. Colleges specifically do.
