Will acceptance rates become increasingly low or will they level off soon?

Harvard's acceptance rate has recently been going down like 1% every year(roughly). Do you think their acceptance rate will be close to 1-4% in a decade or two or do you think it'll level off at about 6%?

The extraordinary dip in the last 12 years or so is a direct result of the Common App and Harvard’s seeming accessibility to overseas applicants. The more apps, the lower the rates go. Who can foretell what’s upcoming?

I think Harvard admission rates will continue to drop as more families learn how great the financial aid is. International applicants will increase, as well as domestic applicants.

Internet sites like CC will continue to expose and inform potential applicants to the advantages of a HYPSM eduation; as well as support them in the logisitics of the application process.

A kid from Nepal or Nigeria can soak up all sorts of knowledge here. Decades ago s/he would have had to rely on unreliable snail mail for a thin brochure at best.

Immediately my thinking was, “Nah it will level off!” …But now that I think seriously about it, I don’t know if that’s true. I think it will probably decline a bit more because there are so many more international applicants each year, not to mention US kids who throw an app their way hoping for a miracle.
