I got a 30 twice now and really want to go to notre dame and just wanted to know how much my chances will be hurt because of this.

the scores in () are from my June ACT.
English 30 (31)
Math 29 (33)
Reading 35 (29)- I didn't pace myself well so I had to guess on the last passage.
Science: 27 (28)

I am in the top 10% of my class have a 3.9 uw and am a IB diploma candidate.
I'm also first generation, hispanic, not sure how much this helps.

The middle 50% is a 31-34, so your score is just under that mark. But given that you’re first generation and hispanic (URM), that should help out a lot (double hook). And your GPA and class percentile are very good, so I think you’ll be fine. Good luck!

If ACT is like the SAT, which i am pretty sure it is, then the schools only look at the highest one, no necessarily at how many times you take it. It took me three times to finally get the SAT score that I wanted, so try again I would say.

Yeah, I took the ACT 5 times and the SAT 4 times, and it turned out fine for me. I wouldn’t worry about how many times you take it, just what your highest score is. I would take it again to see if you can get a point or two higher, but if you don’t increase your score, I still think you’ll be fine because of your grades and the fact that you are 1st generation and a URM.

thanks. I think I will retake it this fall then, I feel like I should be able to get a higher score. I was a little worried about taking it one more time but I’ll just send it if its higher.

Admissions rep told us to take it as many times as you need to for the high score. Go for it! They want the highest score and don’t care much about extra sittings.
