Will an arrest on my record (no conviction) cause a problem when apply for PHD aid?

I was arrested for possession (misdemeanor) and am planning on apply to various PHD Programs and can only accept if I am going to be fully funded through fellowship, grants, teaching assist. etc.

I have a lawyer and will most likely be getting Conditional Discharge (Probation) so I will never have been convicted nor have plead guilty to the crime. So I just want to know if the fact that I was ARRESTED will affect my chances of getting financial aid if I were accepted to a school.

Please no "maybes, or could be" answers... if you can explain a related situation or can state facts, it would be greatly appreciated.
