Hello, I am a community college transfer applicant and I was just wondering if my expulsion from highschool affect my chances of getting into a UC (namely UC Berkeley or UCLA...) Thanks!

Well what was the expulsion for?

^^^ Kinda important to know in order to give an informed answer.

I was in a physical alteration.

I was in a physical altercation with another person and then was expelled.

Well did you win it at least?

If they don’t ask, don’t tell. If they find out it would hurt you.

Not revealing it is both a dishonest (full disclosure of bad record is inherent on any application) and risky (if they find out, it would hurt you, but not because they found out) thing to do.

You should be upfront about what you did, while reassuring the admissions officers that you will not be involved in something similar again and that you learned from what you did. The admission will hurt you somewhat. A responsible and remorseful apology will not.
