Will an "I"/"Incomplete" mean rescinded admission?

I recently got into UC Berkeley as a transfer student with a 3.7 GPA. Unfortunately, this semester I took a costume design class unrelated to my English major and got an “I” for reasons I am still trying to figure out. Long story short, we had a practical/project based final that was worth over 50% of the final grade. In preparing for my other three finals the same day, I rushed out and forgot half of the project at home. The professor told me the project would get a “C” - she would not accept any e-mailed late work under any circumstances whatsoever. So, I went home, resigning but expecting to get something between a C and B in the rest of the class as I attended and completed the work, but such was not the case.

Please let me know if this will mean rescinded admission, or what steps I should take to avoid that as much as possible. Thanks!

We can only offer sympathy and uneducated guesses. Call UCB tomorrow and get the answer from someone in authority. Good luck.

You will have to get an answer from UCB and I would definitely follow up with your professor. An “I” usually means the teacher is allowing you to finish the project/exam, etc. It is usually a good thing in that the professor is giving you some leniancy. An Incomplete is not a final grade either technically; it is a placeholder grade. Eventually the professor will have to change it to something else. So maybe your professor is going to let you finish the project - only s/he can tell you what is going on.
